A Comparative Analysis of Poverty Incidence in Farming Systems of Tanzania

Abstract

In Tanzania, the agriculture sector is the main provider of livelihoods for around 80% of the population. Hence, progress in this sector will be central to national poverty reduction. Given the widespread participation, the agriculture sector will continue to play a central role in the Tanzanian economy, and, with an enabling policy framework and strategic investment, has the potential to advance the country?s goals of growth and poverty reduction.
