Factors that influence early introduction of foods to infants below the age of 6 months in Temeke district Dar es Salaam Tanzania
Abstract
Background: Breast milk remains the best food to a newborn baby in its initial days due to its nutritional, psychological, biochemical, immunological, economic and health benefits; vital for the growth and development. According to WHO/UNICEF exclusive breast-feeding with abrupt cessation at 6 months is recommended as an infant feeding option for HIV-exposed infants while it remains the sole option to all unexposed infants and to those born to mothers of unknown HIV serostatus
