Voluntary counselling and testing up-take increased over four-fold after starting ART in a Tanzanian district hospital

Abstract

Background: anti-retroviral therapy (ART) in developing countries aims at change of both: the prognosis of HIV/AIDS and the health care setting. In this setting voluntary counselling and testing (VCT) is an important basis for information and behaviour changes. This study investigates changes in VCT up-take at St. Francis Designated District Hospital (SFDDH), a large health facility in rural Tanzania.
