Establishment of district advisory committees

Abstract

This paper describes the experiences in establishing District Advisory Committees in three Districts in Kilimanjaro Region. In 1998 Same District established a District Advisory Committee (DAC) to improve development co-operation. The PAMOJA project also facilitated the establishment of a DAC in two other districts of Kilimanjaro Region, namely Mwanga and Rombo Districts. The DACs in the three districts have been operational for some years and interesting lessons were learnt. This background paper describes the issues to be taken into consideration during the establishment of a District Advisory Committee.
