Human Resources for Health in Tanzania
Abstract
Shortage of health personnel and poor health worker performance are among the most pressing problems of health systems in low-income countries, and Tanzania is no exception. Over the last few years, awareness has increased among policy makers in Tanzania that the country is facing a health worker crisis, and the government have introduced a strategy to address the problem. By structuring available evidence within a strategic policy framework, and by identifying key knowledge gaps, this paper provides evidence-based findings to strengthen health work force initiatives in Tanzania.
