Costs of different factors of production in Zanzibar

Abstract

This paper provides costs of direct factors of production in Zanzibar. The factors range from electricity water and fuel salaries of skilled and unskilled labour seaports fees lending rates of commercial banks telecommunication charges taxation, etc. However, the costs of these factors vary depending on experience, location, size and the firm’s category. Discriminatory rates for water and electricity in favour of some households and firms have led to firms paying unnecessary high rates.
