Evaluation of smallholder coffee cultivation

Abstract

The smallholder coffee cultivation project is owned by the Ulanga District Council (UDC) and is funded by the Irish government in selected villages in Ulanga district. Ten farmers were nominated in each village to receive special training in managing coffee nurseries and fields. Inputs together with the technical support for establishing coffee nurseries were provided. The overall project objective was to improve farm incomes by establishing profitable smallholder coffee cultivation in the area.
