Occupational exposure and health problems in small-scale industry workers in Dar es salaam, Tanzania
Abstract
Workers in informal small-scale industries (SSI) in developing countries involved inwelding, spray painting, woodwork and metalwork are exposed to various hazards with consequent risk to health. The main purpose of this study is to assess occupational exposure and health problems in SSI in Dar es Salaam Tanzania. The study also suggests that workers have high levels of exposure to multiple health hazards and that use of protective equipment is poor highlighting the need of improving the those equipment to enhance improvement in occupational health and safety provision
