Outreach and continuing Education Programmes at SUA: Achievements, Contraints and Future Outlook

Abstract

Weak linkage between research - extension service and ft~r?ners is one of the major reason given for the continuing poor pe~rmance of Tan ~arna agriculture. This paper h~hlights 5UA 's mission with regard to outreach or service to the public and anaylses the pefon~ance of past extension and continuing education programmes at the Urnversi~ Anaylsis of some past programmes has revealed jaetors that have contributed to their success orfailure. Based on Lessons from these past programmes, the universi~y has chartered out the following future strategies to improve, its outreach activities:
