Basic density and strength properties of Melia Azedarach L. and Markhamia Lutea (Benth.) K. Schum. grown in agroforestry in Bunda, Mara Tanzania

Abstract

Basic density and strength properties of Melia azedarach L. and Markhamia lutea (Benth.) K.Schum. grown in agroforestry in Bunda District were studied. A survey of end uses of both species was conducted using structured questionnaires. Tree form was determined by observation on standing and felled trees. Basic density was determined using maximum moisture content method and strength properties were measured on a Monsato Tensiometer machine. Main findings from this study were as follows:
