For more than two decades Tanzania is still struggling to control the HIV/AIDS epidemic which continues to claim thousands of lives of her people and threatening the national social and economic development efforts. We are confronted by a generalized epidemic with an average HIV prevalence of 5.8%. (THIS-2) HIV infection is widespread in among the population throughout the country in urban and rural areas with noticeable variation between and within the regions. The evastating impact of the epidemic is felt in all sectors as it causes widespread suffering among individuals, families and communities across the country. The number of orphans is ever increasing as the epidemic takes away the parents.
